'Working With Vulnerable Young People' - course places available

The programme is run by the University of Brighton, developed in partnership with targeted youth support services in Brighton & Hove.  The course is targeted at practitioners who are working with vulnerable young people on a one to one basis, with the aim of engaging the young person on programmes of change, focused on particular issues. It is particularly aimed as experienced, professionally qualified practitioners who can demonstrate an ability to study at higher education level 3 (Integrated Qualification Framework level 6). 

Course Content

  • Understanding of concepts of social exclusion and associated perspectives on youth and adolescent development and behaviour
  • Key factors relating to risk and resilience
  •  Managing relationships with vulnerable young people
  •  Models and tools of intervention in working with vulnerable young people
  •   Relationships and interventions with parents, families and carers

Study Programme

Active participation in workshops and seminars.     Case study analysis.       Development of reflective practice .     Undertaking written assignments which involve analysis of practice and interventions 

Students who successfully complete the two module assessment tasks may be able to progress on a programme of study working towards honours degree qualification.

All sessions are from 9.30am – 4.30pm and will be held at the University’s Falmer campus.  Attendance at all sessions is essential.
